RNAV

Area Navigation (RNAV) can be defined as a method of navigation that permits aircraft operation on any desired course within the coverage of station-referenced navigation signals or within the limits of a self contained system capability, or a combination of these.

RNAV was developed to provide more lateral freedom and thus more complete use of available airspace. This method of navigation does not require a track directly to or from any specific radio navigation aid, and has three principal applications:
A route structure can be organized between any given departure and arrival point to reduce flight distance and traffic separation :

  2. Aircraft can be flown into terminal areas on varied pre-programmed arrival and departure paths to expedite traffic flow; and
  3. Instrument approaches can be developed and certified at certain airports, without local instrument landing aids at that airport

Dengan beberapa definisi serta penjelasan di atas, kita dapat menyimpulkan bahwa RNAV adalah metode navigasi yang memungkinkan pesawat untuk terbang dan beroperasi berdasarkan flight path yang mencakup pada setiap jalur penerbangan yang diinginkan dalam jangkauan ground or space based navigation aids or within the limits of the capability of self-contained aids, atau kombinasi dari kedua hal tersebut.

Beberapa keuntungan dari metode navigasi di atas adalah sebagai berikut :

  1. Time and fuel savings,
  2. Reduced dependence on radar vectoring, altitude, and speed assignments allowing a reduction in required ATC radio transmissions, and
  3. More efficient use of airspace.

Soekarno Hatta Int’l airport Jakarta sudah mulai mengimplementasikan prosedur RNAV, sesuai dengan informasi dari AIP SUPPLEMENT of DIRECTORATE OF AIR NAVIGATION SUB DIRECTORATE MANAGEMENT OF AERONAUTICAL INFORMATION tanggal 28 Juni 2012. Dalam rangka mengoptimalkan Performance Based Navigation (PBN) Implementation at Jakarta International Soekarno Hatta Airport, dengan kondisi padatnya lalulintas udara saat inisehingga diperlukan untuk merevisi Standard Arrival Area Navigation Procedures (STAR RNAV-1) yang telah diterbitkan pada AIP Supplement 06/ 12 tanggal 8 Maret 2012 dan menetapkan New Standard Departure Area Navigation Procedures (SID RNAV-1).

Bagaimana implementasi prosedur baru di atas terhadap aktifitas virtual pada IVAO Indonesia? Divisi Indonesia telah merelease beberapa document terkait dengann RNAV procedure agar dapat disimulasikan secara maksimal.

ATTENTION FOR VIRTUAL IVAO ATC

  1. Use lastest sector file for Jakarta version 1. 172, please download in here.
  2. For RNAV assignment please check the pilot remark on flightplan whether pilot indicate RMK/AIRAC 1209.
  3. If pilot not indicate the remark, use non RNAV SID and STAR or radar vector.
  4. Please take note on runway alternation procedure refer to RNAV Procedure Implementation.

VIRTUAL PILOT INDICATED REMARK

Pilot must indicate on flightplan coloumn 18. RMK/ AIRAC1209 to confirm you are able perform RNAV departure/ arrival & new SID & STAR. If pilot doest not indicated on remark coloumn, ATC will give the non RNAV departure/ arrival procedure.

PHRASEOLOGY

SID RNAV-1 shall be issued by ATC in the following order :

  • Call sign
  • Aerodrome Destination
  • SID identifier

Phraseology : <Call sign> Cleared to <Destination> via <Route> <Level> <SID Identifier> DEPARTURE, <Assigned Level>.
Non compliance SID RNAV-1, departing aircraft from Jakarta Soekarno Hatta Airport will be radar vectored to transition identifier or will given non RNAV departure.

STARs RNAV-1 shall be issued by ATC in the following order:

  • Callsign;
  • Aerodrome Destination;
  • Arrival identifier;
  • RWY-in-use

Example: (Callsign) cleared to (Aerodrome Destination) via GASPA 2B ARRIVAL expected (RWY in use).
Non compliance STAR RNAV-1, arriving aircraft from Jakarta Soekarno Hatta Airport will be radar vectored to transition identifier or will given non RNAV departure.

VERTICAL RESTRICTION
Pilot shall comply with an ATC assigned level. Pilot shall also adhere to the vertical restrictions depicted on the cleared Transition and SID RNAV-1. ATC clearance will take precedence when the ATC clearance does not allow the pilots to adhere to the vertical restriction depicted on the Transition and SID RNAV-1.
Aircraft which level is below the assigned level at the entrance way point, shall maintain its level until way point appropriate to its level.

RUNWAY ALTERNATION
Traffic inbound from east for arrival will use runway 07L/ 25L. Traffic inbound from west will use 07R/25R.

Selain beberapa divisional policy di atas, kami juga telah menyelesaikan beberapa document lain dan airport quickview yang dapat membantu ATC atau pilot virtual sehingga lebih mudah untuk menetukan SID/ STAR assignment yang benar dan sesuai dengan implementasi pada real world operation.
